  • Consultancy Research Undertaken
    • As Principal Investigator, I am involved in two other research projects (i) “AN INDIVIDUAL TRAVEL COST MODEL OF RECREATION DEMAND: A CASE STUDY OF AYUBIA NATIONAL PARK” This project is funded by Higher Education Commission, Islamabad for a period of 24 months. (ii) “POVERTY, ENVIRONMENT, AND DEVELOPMENT: EXPLORING THE LINKS BETWEEN THREE COMPLEX ISSUES WITH SPECIFIC FOCUS ON THE PAKISTAN’S CASE”. This project is also sponsored by the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad for two years.
    • As Principal Investigator, I completed an international research project titled, titled “DEMAND FOR ECO-TOURISM: ESTIMATING RECREATIONAL BENEFITS FROM THE MARGALLA HILLS NATIONAL PARK IN ISLAMABAD”. This project was funded by the South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE) for 18 months and can be found at http://www.sandeeonline.org/publications/working_papers/report_himmy.pdf.
    • I Worked as a team member in a UNDCP: Green and Social Sector Components Programme: Dir District Development Project-Phase II. I completed as senior author two studies titled (1) “Relative Profitability of Major Crops and Marketing Problems in Five Selected Valleys of Dir District, and (2) Economics of Different Crops in Five Selected Valleys of Dir District (1992)”. In this project my main task was to assist the team leader with the land use planning. I worked out comparative cost benefit analysis of various crops of the area and then put forward my recommendation as to which parcel of farm area should be allocated to which crop or forest plants\trees with a view to eliminate poppy cultivation.
    • Completed a study as a team leader titled “Analysis of Relative Technical Efficiency of Wheat Growers in Rainfed Farming System of Lakki Marwat (1995).” for Transformation and Integration of Provincial Agricultural Network (TIPAN) Project of the USAID. In this project, I analyzed and compared the relative technical efficiency of different farms by tenure and size. I also compared the adoption of improved technology on various farms with a view to suggest what types of technologies are more appropriate and suitable for different farms.
    • Completed a study as a team leader “Measurement of Relative Technical Efficiency in Barani (rainfed) Agriculture: A Case Study of District Lakki Marwat (1995).”
    • Completed a study as a team leader “Supply Response of Major Crops in Pakistan Agriculture: An Updated Analysis (1995).” In this study my role was to study how different crop supply responded to various crop and input price variables.
    • Completed a study as a team member “Monitoring and Evaluation of Wheat and Chickpea Seed Production Studies/Trials in D.I. Khan and Hazara.” for SDC-IC in March-April 2000.
