• Dr. Himayatullah was born on February 15, 1964 in District Lakki Marwat, NWFP, Pakistan. He completed his primary education in his village’s Government School, Tabbi Murad. He got first class first position in his S.S.C. examination in 1979 and He did his intermediate and graduation in 1981 and 1983, respectively from Govt. College Lakki Marwat with first position in the College. In 1986-87, Dr. Himayatullah did his M.Sc. Economics from Gomal University, D.I. Khan and got a gold medal. In April 1987, He was appointed as Scientific Officer (BS-17) by the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and was stationed in the Agricultural Economic Research Unit (now called Technology Transfer Unit), Tarnab, Peshawar. In December 1987, he joined the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), Peshawar as a Lecturer in Economics. He then got a merit scholarship for doing Ph.D. Economics which he completed in 1995 from Quaid-I-Azam University, Islamabad. He also did his Post-doctorate in 1996-97 from the Department of Applied Economics, University of Minnesota, USA. In 2003, he went to Sweden where he completed an advanced course on “Natural Resource and Environmental Economics” from Gothenburg University.
• Currently, Dr. Himayatullah is working as Professor of Economics. Dr. Himayatullah has more than 20-year teaching-cum-research as well as consultancy experience. He has been teaching Economic Theory, Natural Resource and Environmental Economics, Managerial and Business Economics, Research Methodology, Mathematical Economics, Monetary Theory and Policy, etc at post-graduate level—MA/M.Sc. Economics, M.Sc. (Hons) Rural Development, MBA as well as Ph.D. Economics, Rural Development and Management Sciences. He has published 40 articles in various journals of repute (List of Publications). He has also published articles in dailies, research reports, and working papers (Research Reports and Working Papers). He has participated in various advanced courses, workshops, meetings and conferences in USA, UK, Denmark, Canada, Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal as well as Pakistan (Trainings and Conferences). Dr. Himayatullah is a regular member of various Boards and Councils (Membership of Various Bodies). Dr. Himayatullah has done a number of consultancies for national and international organizations (Consultancy research undertaken).
• Dr. Himayatullah is living in Hayatabad, a suburban town of Peshawar. He has three children. He is looking for a challenging career where he could exploit all his potential as a teacher, researcher, consultant, and/or responsible officer. His favorite areas of research include: Natural Resource Management, Environmental Management and Policy Analysis, Climate and Global Change, Agricultural and Rural Development whereas his hobbies include reading, writing, sports, music, traveling, eco-tourism, etc.
